Review: Aim was to be able to record HD broadcast and to utilise network storage. This is achieved and adds that extra dimension of flexibility into a system which also includes a combo player (serving an extensive library of VHS & DVD recordings) and Apple TV. All connect via HDMI through a switching box (Dick Smith) to the single input on the TV, so only need to operate the TV on HDMI input. Recorded files taken from the product and converted to MPEG4 for storage on the network play effectively and reduce storage requirement to approx 20%.Product fulfils the role that was required.
Bad: Although product recognises the network, the network does not recognise the product. This forces much of the file transfer to be conducted via removeable drive.
Geo-lock on optical drive is a nuisance.
Good: Installed easily.
Operation is relatively intuitive.
Blu-Ray is a bonus
